Work permits and the accompanying stay permits can range from durations such as one month for short projects or urgent matters, or two to six months for those ex-pats who need to be in the country for a slightly longer duration and finally seven to twelve months where the contract is of a long-term nature. In most cases, the application will be processed whilst you are in your home country and an electronic confirmation (e-visa) will be issued allowing you to enter Indonesia under this category. Once you are in the country, you will attend a biometrics appointment to finalise the process.

Foreign citizens who hold a single or multi-entry business visa in Indonesia are permitted to participate in business talks, purchase goods, or even negotiate potential business deals within the country. 

However, you must keep in mind that these types of Indonesian visas prohibit you from generating any income from within Indonesia and they do not allow you to be based at a desk in an office, for that you will need an Indonesian work permit.

A Foreign citizen who is married to an Indonesian national and wishes to reside in Indonesia should consider opting for the Spouse ITAS. It will initially grant you a 12-month stay that can be extended up to 5 years of stay. After two consecutive years, it can be converted into a permanent stay permit an ITAP which is a stay permit that is valid for 5 years.

The SKCK (Surat Keterangan Catatan Kepolisian) or Police Clearance Certificate is an official document issued as a result of a background check by the national police of Indonesia to enumerate any criminal records that the applicant may have in Indonesia. Criminal records may include arrest, conviction, and possibly criminal proceedings.

 

The Certificate carries a validity of up to six months from the date of issuance. The process can be handled if you are either located in Indonesia or already domiciled outside of Indonesia.

In Indonesia, the children of mixed-couple marriages will have dual nationality following their parents until they are 18 years old. Parents of mixed-couple marriages are responsible for registering their children to have dual nationality.

 

The registration can be applied in the immigration office according to the child’s domicile or via the Indonesian Embassy in the country where the child was born. Parents will get Registration Proof that will be used for obtaining immigration facilities. This immigration facility is called Affidavit.
 

A child must fulfil one of the following conditions:
 

1. Born on legal marriage from an Indonesian father and non-Indonesian mother;

2. Born on legal marriage from an Indonesian mother and non-Indonesian father;

3. Born from an Indonesian parent holder of Permanent Resident or Resident visa;

4. Born outside legal marriage from a non-Indonesian mother but officially acknowledged by an Indonesian father, the acknowledgement happened before the child turns 18 or unmarried.
    

A Child of dual citizenship must choose to hold Indonesian or foreign nationality from the time s/he reaches the age of 18 years old up to the time s/he reaches 21 years old or gets married.
